Doug Martin is the General Counsel, Vice President of Compliance, and Corporate Secretary for Blue Bell Creameries. In this role, he serves as the company’s chief legal, compliance, and governance officer, supervising five departments responsible for the safety and protection of Blue Bell’s business, products, and people. He advises the board of directors and executive management on legal issues, enterprise risk, regulatory affairs, and governance. He also manages all board and shareholder records.
Prior to joining Blue Bell, Doug was a member of the Investigations, White Collar, and Fraud group of the law firm Hogan Lovells in Washington, D.C. In that role he assisted clients with government and internal investigations ranging from the local DC area to around the globe. He led teams of attorneys working on legal issues across five continents related to FCPA, trade regulation compliance, consumer protection, pharmaceutical regulation, higher education, and more.
Doug is a Major in the United States Marine Corps Reserve, having served for over 14 years in the Corps both active and reserve. He has served as both a judge advocate and civil affairs officer, and is currently attached to the Pentagon in a legal and policy advisor role. He is a graduate of Texas A&M University, New York University School of Law, and the Marine Corps Command and Staff College. He lives with his wife and two children in The Woodlands, Texas.
