WASHINGTON, Jan. 19, 2024 – IDFA provided written comments to the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) and Food and Drug Administration (FDA) on strategies to reduce added sugar consumption following oral comments delivered at a recent public meeting hosted by FDA. Specifically, these comments focused on the evaluation of existing approaches to reduce added sugars and the impact of those initiatives on health and nutrition. The comments also discussed the ongoing work by the dairy industry to develop food and beverage options with lower or no added sugars.
IDFA appreciates the opportunity to provide comments on approaches to added sugar reduction and looks forward to continued engagement with FDA and USDA on key strategies to help improve nutrition and public health.
