An Institute of Medicine (IOM) Committee has announced that they will release a second report about front-of-pack nutrition symbols next Thursday, October 20. The release will take place in Washington, D.C., and can also be heard via audio webcast. To register for the meeting or webcast, please visit the IOM website. This upcoming report will be the second released by this committee and is expected to address the format and presentation of front-of-pack symbols used on food and beverage packages. The first report of the committee was released last year and recommended that front-of-pack symbols declare calories, saturated fat, trans fat and sodium values.
